On Thursday May 16, 2024, the Institut Néel was honored to welcome Pierre Agostini, Nobel Prize in Physics 2023, accompanied by Patrick Dupré.
Co-winner with Ferenc Krausz and Anne L’Huillier, the jury rewarded them for creating “extremely short pulses of light that can be used to measure the rapid processes during which electrons move or change energy”.
He is currently Professor Emeritus at Ohio State University.
After being welcomed by the head of the laboratory, he visited a number of experiments on metrology in crystal nonlinear optics and photon triplet generation for quantum optics, microwave quantum optics and its applications in Josephson metamaterials, and kinetic-inductance superconducting detectors for astrophysics and particle physics.
The laboratory warmly thanks Mr. Agostini for his visit, and the Néel teams for the warm welcome they extended to him.
