Spin Dynamics and Unconventional Coulomb Phase in Nd2Zr2O7

Nd2Zr2O7 is a peculiar frustrated magnet in which dipolar and octupolar degrees of freedom compete. In this letter, we report on the unconventional correlated but disordered phase, called a Coulomb phase, that is stabilized below 1K in Nd2Zr2O7 before the system enters an ordered phase at 300 mK. The temperature dependence study of the correlations and of the spin dynamics shows that these two phases, which are carried by both dipolar and octupolar components, coexist above the transition temperature
