From Infrared to Greenhouse Gases
Experiments and explanations to grasp the phenomena involved

This series of three articles published on the « Culture Sciences Physique » website offers a wide range of experiments to explore infrared radiation. Using a standard thermal camera, it demonstrates the absorption and emission of mid-infrared radiation by greenhouse gases.

This work follows the structure of the public lectures given during the 2023 and 2024 editions of the Fête de la Science by the Environmental Issues Mediation Group of the Néel Institute and the UFR-PhITEM of the Université Grenoble Alpes.

Article 1/3: Infrared in sunlight and in the light of a halogen bulb.

March 2025. CultureSciences Physique – ISSN 2554-876X

Article 2/3: The earth also emits infrared radiation.

April 2025. CultureSciences Physique – ISSN 2554-876X

Article 3/3 : Greenhouse gases partially absorb the mid-infrared radiation emitted by the Earth.

April 2025. CultureSciences Physique – ISSN 2554-876X
