“French Physicists’ Tournament” 2021 !

French Physicists’ Tournament (FPT) is an annual meeting of student teams from French institutions of higher education, during which students exchange on a dozen open physics problems that they have prepared for 5 months prior to the tournament.

These exchanges, in the form of scientific jousting, are called Physics’ Fights. A team is made up of six students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies (L3/M1 or second year of school).

The team of “Université Grenoble-Alpes” supervised by Laurent Ranno (Team Leader) took part on February 12^th and 13^th 2021 in the 8^th edition of this tournament, by videoconference (because of COVID). The team, which is based on the UGA campus, was hosted by the Institut Néel on Saturday, February 13^th.
The team placed 6^th in the final with a magnificent silver medal due to the degraded preparation conditions.

The tournament was won by the University Paris-Saclay, which will represent France in the final of the International Physicists’ Tournament (IPT 2021) in Warsaw, probably still by videoconference.
