A record in sensitivity achieved thanks to the NIKA2 camera

Thanks to the NIKA2 camera—developed by a consortium led by the Institut Néel/CNRS and installed on the IRAM 30-meter telescope—an international team of astronomers has achieved a record in sensitivity and discovered a massive cosmic structure made up of dust-rich, massive galaxies dating back to when the Universe was just one billion years old.

CNRS Physics has published a news story highlighting the NIKA2 instrument, the result of a major interdisciplinary collaboration between CNRS Physique, CNRS Terre & Univers and CNRS Nucléaire & Particules.
