CNRS senior researcher at the Néel Institute, member of the SIN team, my main research activity is related to the theory and the development of x-ray spectroscopies as a probe of materials.
Most of the work concerns the development and the broadcasting of the FDMNES ab initio computation code. Its function is to simulate x-ray absorption, emission and scattering spectroscopies. The calculated spectra can then be compared to data often recorded under synchrotron radiation. The main goal is to extract information on the electronic, magnetic and structural properties of all classes of systems.

Main research activities
1986 – 1997: Study of the surfaces of carbides and nitrides experimentaly and theoretically using Low Energy Electron Diffraction. Study of semi-conductors using Low Energy Positron Diffraction.
From 1998: Theoretical study of x-ray absorption, emission and scattering spectroscopies, more specifically at the energies close to the absorption edges (X-ray Absorption near edge Structure, Valence to core X-ray emission spectroscopy, Resonant X- ray diffraction). Writting of the ab initio computation code FDMNES to simulate these spectrocopies and to compare the calculated spectra to data most often recorded at synchrotron.
Application to the study of many classes of systems with special focus on oxides.
Teaching
Teaching in undergraduate studies in general physics, optics and mathematics. Courses in Solid State Physics in Master.
