Theory of Quantum Circuits
Designing and analyzing theoretically model systems for the exploration of emergent quantum phenomena in nanoelectronic devices
Goals
Quantum circuits allow to exploit and control individually complex quantum properties such as electronic correlations, quantum interference and entanglement. The fundamental building blocks of these circuits can be tailored from metals, semiconductors, magnetic materials, and especially superconductors, thanks to the design of ultra small devices down to the nanometer scale. Remarkable physical behavior and emergent quantum phenomena, that can be observed by electronic transport, are investigated theoretically from models using analytic and numerical techniques, often in contact with state-of-the-art experimental studies.
