Séminaire Spécial

Mercredi 4 octobre à 10h00,
Salle Erwin Bertaut, F418

"Version control @ Néel"
Speaker : Edgar Bonet

For all of you who ever write code and would benefit from a good versioning tool, I am pleased to announce the following seminar.

Summary :

Writing code – HDL, firmware, data analysis, simulations, etc. – has become an integral part of the work of many of us. Yet, version control, which is considered an essential good software programming practice, doesn’t yet see widespread use in our lab. Last July, Stéphanie Zaccaro and I have set up a git-based version control service, available from within the lab at :
http://cowork.neel.cnrs.fr/

It is now time for the guided tour. In this talk, I will try to answer the following questions :
- what is version control and what is it good for ?
- what is git ? how does it work ? how do I use it ?
- how do I use this new “cowork” service ?

A live demo will conclude the talk.

Hope to see you there.
Edgar.
