"Polarised neutrons challenging the theories of superconductivity"

Abstract

Polarised neutron scattering is a powerful technique, which allows distinguishing between nuclear and magnetic contributions. In the context of cuprate high temperature superconductors, we show how this probe is essential to provide clues to understand the exotic and complex properties of these materials. A mysterious pseudo-gap phase, appearing at temperatures above the superconducting transition, is of particular interest. The agreement between our experimental observations and a selection of theoretical propositions will be discussed.
