"The gatemon : a transmon with a voltage-variable superconductor-semiconductor junction"

Abstract :

Recent experiments have demonstrated superconducting transmon qubits with semiconductor nanowire Josephson junctions. These hybrid gatemon qubits utilize field effect tunability singular to semiconductors to allow complete qubit control using gate voltages, potentially a technological advantage over conventional flux-controlled transmons. In this talk, coherent manipulation of gatemon qubits is discussed. Then the talk will focus on fundamental differences between conventional transmons and gatemons. Further, our efforts to build tunable circuit elements such as switchable couplers are presented. The talk will be concluded by discussing alternative material systems to build hybrid semiconductor-superconductor qubits.
