"Rabi oscillations and decoherence in spin systems. Quantum Stoner-Wohlfarth model"

Abstract :

This talk should be essentially divided into four parts :

- Short overview of quantum coherence and Rabi oscillations in mesoscopic systems (single molecule magnets, rare-earth ions)

- Theoretical and intuitive discussions of their quantum dynamics (the latter being based on the Landau-Zener model, classical in this case)

- Recent evidence of Rabi oscillations at spin-chain discommensurations, leading to a new type of qubits (“solitons” or “discommensurations” qubits) paving the way for a new concept of quantum computers.

- Preliminary simulation results on the quantum Stoner-Wohlfarth model, showing interesting new features to be observed experimentally (dynamical phase transition, topological phase).
