"How to generate indistinguishable photons from strongly dissipative quantum emitters ?"

abstract :

According to quantum mechanics, two identical quantum emitters excited at the same time should generate indistinguishable photons. However, the picture breaks down for artificial atoms (such as quantum dots or color centers in diamond) interacting with their solid-state environment. In this talk we will see how photon indistinguishability can be restored even in the case of strong dephasing processes by exploiting an unconventional regime of cavity quantum electrodynamics.
