Diversity — FP7 2008

DIVERSITY was a FP7 european project started on the 1st of January 2009, and lasted 36 months.

The consortium aimed to tackle the problem of under-representation of women in decision-making by fostering the change in institutional culture and changing the attitudes with regard to gender diversity in materials research organisations. In this way a more stimulating research environment in the spirit of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for their Recruitment is targeted .

The central goal of the project was to identify the effective methods, policies and mechanisms in order to support women scientists in relation to their access to decision-making positions in the sphere of materials research, which traditionally is a male-dominated scientific field. Commitment to the promotion of women to the highest level of research is anchored at the topmost political and institutional level in DIVERSITY project.
